Writing Task to be posted by ALL members

Write folks, let's have some communal writing by everyone!

Imagine a task 2 esssay based on Monday's debate. Write me an introduction with your thesis and an eye-catching topic sentence.

Everyone posts. Everyone comments, OK?

Essay title:

Some researchers believe that computers do not necessarily aid learning. While they are useful, conventional teaching is more effective. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

I JUST want the introduction!!! That'll tell me all about the rest of the essay.

Anyone who doesn't post gets reported to Mr Williams, the Director of Studies at the British Council.

Good night!

Sweet dreams!!

Blog on bloggers. You have nothing to fear except fear!

Hi there Yasmeen!

No problems language-wise with the introduction, I'd just like something pithier (nice word!) and more personal.

Use the first person!

What's your thesis? Nail your colours to the mast!

"In this essay I will argue that computers are a vital tool for teachers and enable learning to proceed more effectively and meaningfully"

BUT you have to back up those noble statements with what? More contentious academic research that contradicts other "so-called" experts?

Reduce the argument to definable issues that you fel comfortable with. Your introduction was too general and a bit simplistic.

I have helped raised four daughters and computers played "a" part, but there is much more to learning that sitting in front of a monitor and clicking away!

Let the debate contine!

re Mohammed's intro: yes shorter and sweeter would be better:

"Some researchers strongly hold the belief that computers make children’s learning more difficult. Learning could be improved by more effective conventional teaching.
Computers can help familiarize our children with modern information technology and its applications
In this essay, I will explain why I believe in using computers, as a main tool, to enhance learning."

How's that?

Next victim,please!

What's happened to student-student commenting?

It's the same old faces, again, again!

Come on the other 14 bloggers!

You don't want the wrath of Mr Williams????

Thanks Yasmeen and Mohammed!

The usual suspects - where are the other 14 - sleeping like Masoud?

Wake up, guys!

This is for you! I could be taking it easy and just kind of "Open the book at page ...", but I care and doesn't it show?

See you later, alligator!
In a while, crocodile!

Hi Mohammed, my ace blogger!

Thanks 4 your encouragement and massive contribution to the blog.

The diffErence is:

INdisputablby (adverb) is CORRECT usage

UNdisputably is INCORRECT usage

It is undisputed (verb)and indisputable (adjective) that English can be an extremely frustrating and capricious language.

Good luck, keep the Panadols handy.

Ciao

Tony
